Fort Dobbs State Historic Site commemorates the origins and use of this crucial structure during the French and Indian War. The lone frontier fort in the North Carolina colony, Fort Dobbs served as both military headquarters and safe-haven for settlers before it was left in ruins in 1766. The property features the original archaeological site of the fort, along with artifact displays and an annual re-enactment of the Battle of Fort Dobbs. The site is located directly north of Charlotte, in north Statesville.
